Fibre optic light shows, bubbles and amazing bouncy light balls are part of a sensory extravaganza for local babies and their parents.

Today sees the first in a series of three baby sensory classes at Dundee Science Centre.

Aimed at babies from birth to 13 months and founded on more than 30 years of university research and practical theory, the activities incorporate every possible sensory experience including sign language, rainbows, bells, holistic massage and much more to encourage development.

Katie Blackett, Dundee Science Centre science learning officer, said, “Babies learn more in the first year of life than at any other time. Never again will there be such an extraordinary pace of development.

“They are totally attentive and absolutely fascinated by everything that they can see, hear, touch, taste and smell and have the ability to absorb twice the amount of information that college students do.

“Baby Sensory doesn’t waste a moment of this valuable time and parents looking for an unforgettable experience will find that with Baby Sensory, sharing in the joy and sense of awe from seeing baby learn, communicate and develop.”

Classes at Dundee Science Centre, Sensation, will run today, April 2 and May 7.

There will be two sessions per day from 10-10.40am and from 11-11.40am.

The cost per baby is £7.50, with two adults free of charge. The price includes entrance to all shows and workshops and an opportunity to explore the Centre.
