Friends of Bonnethill well on way to church plaque target
ByNews reporter
A campaign to mark the site of a former city church is gathering momentum, as organisers close in on an important fund-raising total.
The Friends of Bonnethill group says it is close to reaching a £600 target needed to put up a plaque at the location of the Bonnethill Church in the Hilltown.
The church, which had its congregation dissolved in 1978 before being demolished, remains fondly remembered with former members keen to put up a plaque in the Hilltown Park to mark its location.
The group, with support from the Dundee Partnership’s Coldside Regeneration Forum, is nearing its target just a week into the collection but is still keen to hear from people wishing to contribute.
Kathleen MacNaughton, from the Friends of Bonnethill, said, “It’s going very well so far. The church meant so much to us and so many people from within the congregation went on to get married. I’ve had calls from all over the place.”
Anybody wishing to donate can contact Mrs MacNaughton on 01334 656241.
