Darci McDonald’s heartbreak as precious images of late father are stolen

A Cupar woman has been left heartbroken by the theft of a camera that held the final precious photographs of her late father.

Brazilian Darci McDonald’s father Francisco Souza died in January just after Darci, husband James and daughter Isabella (5) spent Christmas with him in Sao Paulo for the last time.

Darci had taken lots of pictures of her father and the rest of her family in Brazil, but on Tuesday she found a thief had taken the camera containing them from her car, which was parked outside her house in the Drum estate.

A GPS system and DVD player were also stolen, but Darci is desperate for the return of the camera or at least the memory card containing the photographs.

Although Francisco’s health had deteriorated before Darci and Isabella left Sao Paulo, Darci was unable to be with him in his final days and attend his funeral as James, who had returned to his job in the Middle East, fell critically ill.

James was struck down with swine flu and was flown to a German hospital for life-saving treatment.

Fearing the worst, Darci rushed from Brazil, and while she was with James, who has since made a full recovery, Francisco unexpectedly passed away.
