Dundee United’s Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Motherwell has been put back by 24 hours.
The Fir Park clash had originally been scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, but this caused a problem for the Steelmen after two key players keeper Darren Randolph and captain Stephen Craigan were called up for international duty on that day.
The Scottish Football Association has announced it has acceded to their request.
United boss Peter Houston will himself be with the Scotland squad until the Sunday ahead of the match the date of the glamour friendly against Brazil in London.
However, he insisted that the Tannadice club’s Scottish Cup defence would not be affected by his Scotland commitments which begin in La Manga next week even if the game had not been delayed by a day.
Speaking before the SFA made the change, he said, “There’s no problem whatsoever.
“I’m going to give the players four days off next week because they’ve earned it and deserved it.
“They’ll train with me next Monday and the only time I do my stuff with them is the day before the game, and I’ll be back the day of the replay.
“Other than that, they’ll just be doing normal training sessions.
“I don’t do any of the training during the course of the week except on a Friday. That’s when I come alive.
“In this case before the replay, it will be a Monday.
“We know Motherwell exceptionally well and we’ll be working on our team shape the day before the tie.”
