Dundee boss Barry Smith believes his team will be facing potential first division champions in Falkirk at the weekend, despite the fact that the Bairns have dropped off the pace.
According to Smith the promotion race is too tight to call but he gives Steven Pressley’s men as good a chance as Fife pair Raith Rovers and Dunfermline of making it to the SPL.
He said, “This is such a difficult league to get out of.
“The three teams at the top are all quite similar and are hard to break down. There really isn’t much between them at all.
“It will come down to which team goes on a run from now on. The team that does will win the league. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was Falkirk.
“They’ve got a lot of good players in their squad and I certainly still feel they’ll be there or thereabouts.
“This is their first season in this division and they were expected to go straight back up. But they’ve found out as we did that it’s never that simple. It’s just something that Steven Pressley has to handle.”
In boxing they say that styles make fights and Smith believes the same can be said of football.
He said, “They’re full of attacking players and so are we so it has the makings of a very good match.”
Striker Sean Higgins hasn’t trained this week and Smith said that it is too early to say whether he’s likely to be available.
