Councillors ask to be involved with Law Nursery consultation

Two councillors have asked to be included in the consultation over the future of Law Nursery, which lies in their ward.
Councillors Helen Wright and Mohammed Asif have written to Dundee education convener Councillor Liz Fordyce to put forward their case for taking part.
“We have received lots of emails and phone calls from parents and carers concerned about the closure of this nursery which was held up by the school inspectors as an outstanding nursery school. We should be proud of that and support the staff who have done a first-class job.
“We should also be supportive of the parents and carers who are now worried and confused by what happened at the committee.”
The issue of whether or not the children should be moved to use spare space at Rosebank Primary was withdrawn from the agenda of the February 28 education committee meeting to allow time for informal consultation with parents, who had objected strongly.
Ms Fordyce has said that the informal consultation is best carried out between officials, parents and staff without politicians’ input.
Depending on the outcome, the matter may be brought back to the committee with a view to a formal consultation.
