An Arbroath family business has launched its centenary celebrations with its biggest ever sale.
A lengthy queue formed outside Pert’s House Furnishers in High Street on Wednesday as nearly £500,000 of furnishings were put on sale at heavily discounted prices.
Director David Pert said that the store was initially having a private clearance sale to make room for new stock and reward its most loyal customers, before opening the sale up to the general public from Friday.
He said, “We are marking 100 years in business with a special two-day sale for invited customers.
“Pert’s opened here in 1910 and this is now a fourth-generation family concern. I don’t think there are too many other High Street stores left in Arbroath with such a history.”
He added, “There has been a lot of doom and gloom talked about Arbroath High Street recently but we have remained busy and with the new hotel opening across the road I predict a solid future for this part of the town.”
