Student singers from St Andrews are astonished at the online sensation caused by a video they posted on YouTube.
A cappella band The Other Guys rewrote the Lady Gaga hit Bad Romance to celebrate the royal wedding.
Royal Romance shows the 11-strong group performing the song around the Fife town, where Prince William and Kate Middleton met.
It soared to the top of the YouTube charts and yesterday, just five days after being uploaded, it had received 77,000 hits.
Band member Ollie Boesen, who directed it, said, “The video was simply made as a celebration of the wedding and to put a smile on people’s faces.
“We are absolutely delighted that Royal Romance has reached so many we just hope Kate likes it too!”
The song tells of unrequited love for the bride-to-be and features actors playing William and Kate.
The Other Guys dance and sing at locations including the Old Course and St Salvator’s Quadrangle.
The lyrics include, “I want your loving, just get rid of the prince, you and me could write a bad romance.”
Harking back to the student fashion show in which Kate caught William’s eye, The Other Guys croon, “Walk, walk, fashion baby, she’s a regal catwalk lady, walk, walk, fashion baby, see-through dresses drive me crazy.”
The group will donate a portion of any proceeds to the Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton Charitable Gift Fund.
