Group Captain Gavin Parker is to be promoted to air commodore and take over at the Fife base from Air Commodore Harry Atkinson. As well as becoming commanding officer of RAF Leuchars, Group Captain Parker will inherit the role of Air Officer Scotland from Mr Atkinson. He will take up the post on September 12. A decision is yet to be taken on whether the RAF will be withdrawn from Leuchars as defence spending is cut.
