Monday’s ferocious winds caused chaos across Perth and Kinross, toppling trees and scattering debris across roads.
Motorists were forced to get out of their vehicles to clear debris blocking various roads, while a tree blown over on the A93 near Guildtown stopped drivers making their way from Perth to Blairgowrie in their tracks.
In the most serious incident, two people were trapped in their Renault Megane when a tree was brought down, crushing its roof.
The accident happened shortly after 1.30pm on the A91 Milnathort to Yetts O’ Muckhart Road, a couple of miles from Milnathort.
Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service attended the scene to free the injured man and woman before taking them by ambulance to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline for treatment.
Police said a 48-year-old woman suffered cuts and bruises in the accident while the injured man, aged 49, suffered a broken wrist, broken ribs and lacerations to the shoulder.
The southbound carriageway of the A9 near Dunblane was closed at one stage due to the number of branches scattered across the road.
BEAR Scotland sent out a team to clear the debris from a fallen tree on the section of the A9 the police had had to close between Balhaldie, south of the Greenloaning slip road, and the Queen Victoria slip road at Dunblane.
A number of minor roads were blocked during the afternoon by falling trees and the force of the high winds closed Friarton bridge to high-sided vehicles.
Trees were badly damaged on both Perth’s North and South Inches and a heavy bough came down on a Subaru parked in Oakbank Road, Perth, badly damaging the car.
The gusts of wind also caused other problems which required attendance by Tayside Fire and Rescue.
The aerial platform was used at Tesco, Edinburgh Road, Perth, after a canopy came loose.
The weather also brought loose masonry crashing to the ground in central Perth, and firefighters were called to deal with problems in South Street and Methven Street.
