As heroic St Bernard is honoured, another seeks a home

On the day that memories were being revived of a wartime St Bernard hero, an appeal was issued for a home for a modern version of the giant of the canine world.
On behalf of the St Bernard Trust, set up to find homes for abandoned or ill-treated animals, Brechin woman Elaine Butterworth has been tasked with finding an owner for Berlingo Bob, a lively three-year-old.
She said, “We get around 150 dogs a year which are abandoned for which we have to try and find new homes.
“These big dogs require experienced handlers but they give back 100% so are very rewarding pets given the right treatment.”
