Dundee FC using Arbroath friendly to gauge trialists

Dundee boss Barry Smith has welcomed the chance to run the rule over trialist duo Craig Dargo and Steven Masterton.

The Dark Blues travel to Gayfield tonight to take on Arbroath in a bounce game and both players will have an opportunity to impress the Dens manager.

Smith said: ”I wanted this game not only because it is better not to go two weeks without a match but also because we will have a chance to play the trialists.

”Craig needs games as he hasn’t played since last season, while Steven could also be doing with matches. So we will be having a look at both of them.”

Jamie McCluskey won’t feature as he has a groin problem, while Graham Bayne and Steven Milne may also miss out as they are on a coaching course.
