Church bells echoed through Dundee as the new Bishop of Brechin was consecrated and installed at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Religious and civic leaders formed part of a crowd of hundreds who gathered to watch Dr Nigel Peyton become the 54th person to take on the title.
A procession through the city centre led by Spirit of Discovery Pipes and Drums, preceded a two-hour service, following which the Venerable Dr Peyton emerged as the Right Reverend Nigel Peyton.
He was elected in May and succeeds the Rt Rev John Mantle, who stood down due to ill health.
Dr Peyton’s first ministry role was in the Diocese of Brechin from 1976 to 1985.
