Star Trek’s original Klingon Michael Ansara dies aged 91

The actor who played the original Klingon on TV’s Star Trek has died.

A long-time friend and spokesman for Michael Ansara said the 91-year-old actor died on Wednesday at his home in California after a long illness.

Besides playing Kang the Klingon in various Star Trek series, Ansara appeared on dozens of TV shows, including Hawaii 5-0 and Murder, She Wrote.

His film credits include Julius Caesar and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Ansara was predeceased by his son, Matthew, with former wife Barbara Eden and is survived by his wife Beverly.
