Trial of man accused of forcing young boy to eat faeces is adjourned
ByThe Courier Reporter
The trial of a 64-year-old Fife man charged with forcing a young boy to eat faeces and drink urine had to be adjourned before it even began at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday.
William Park, of Ramsay Road, Kirkcaldy, denies that on various occasions between October 1983 and January 1990, at an address in Burntisland, he assaulted a boy by removing his lower clothing, repeatedly struck him on the body with a slipper, a wooden cane and a belt, repeatedly punched and kicked him on the head and body and forced him to eat faeces and drink urine, all to his injury.
Park maintained his plea of not guilty to committing the offences over a seven-year period when the boy was aged seven to 14.
Defence solicitor Nigel Cooke suggested it would be more suitable to adjourn the case to a later date to allow more time for all six witnesses to take the stand.
Sheriff Thornton set a trial date for March 23.
