A generous couple have passed up wedding gifts in a bid to aid charity.
Language teacher Helen Leigh (30), from Leeds, and cancer researcher Kenny MacLeod (29), from Invergowrie, who were married in the Chevin Country Park Hotel near Leeds last Saturday, decided to pass up on wedding gifts in favour of helping research into diseases affecting both their families.
Six years ago, Kenny lost his dad Tom to cancer, while two years later, Helen’s mum Norma was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at the age of only 55.
The couple, who live in Dundee, do all they can to help research into the devastating diseases.
Instead of accepting wedding presents, the couple invited donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust and the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR).
Their generous idea raised a total of more than £1000 for their chosen charities.
