The first division title race is well under way but John McGlynn is adamant that there are more than just three teams contesting for promotion.
The Raith Rovers boss and his men currently lead the charge for the SPL, albeit it by just a point over rivals Dunfermline.
With Falkirk also in the mix before a five-point gap back to Queen of the South and the soon-to-be-punished Dundee, many are already seeing a class of three at the top.
However, with just over a quarter of the campaign gone, McGlynn remains adamant that the title race is wide open.
He said, “Dunfermline have been doing well and have really stuck in. Falkirk are another (team) who you think would be up there at the start of the season but the first division is the type of table where anyone can beat anyone.
“Dundee were favourites to go up in pre-season and nobody expected them to be where they are now. If they get hit with a points deduction then it would certainly put them out of the equation.
“It would be easy to suggest that the top three teams have a gap but I still believe that that could be drawn back over time.”
McGlynn has also issued something of a warning about complacency following Dundee’s collapse last season.
Inverness Caley snatched the first division title after overhauling what appeared to be an unassailable Dark Blues lead in the last campaign.
Although aware that Raith’s current position is nothing quite as dominant as that enjoyed by the Den’s Park side last year, the mention suggests that McGlynn will push his players hard should they let up their early season pace.
He added, “Queen of the South can still creep into the equation. I think they finished fourth last season and there’s still a lot of football to be played.”
“I don’t have the stats to tell me where Inverness were at this time last year. Maybe they were 10 points back. I do know they weren’t right up there though.”
