HMRC closes Burns Bar and Coast Nightclub in Arbroath

Tax inspectors have called time on two Arbroath bars.
Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs officers took control of Burns Bar and Coast Nightclub in Arbroath after the firm running the venues went into liquidation, leaving 15 staff without a job.
Operator Nevada Mitchell, who ran the outlets with his brother Kent, declined to speak directly, but released a short statement, saying: ”The Burns Bar and Coast would like to thank all customers and employees for their support over the years.”
An unsigned notice on the door of Coast, in Gravesend, attributed the sudden closure to a gas leak.
A chalk board outside the Burns Bar, in Lordburn, had the letters ”RIP” scribbled on it.
The Mitchells spent thousands of pounds renovating Coast, which had become one of the town’s most popular night spots, prior to tax officials turning up on Friday.
