Dundee University students’ scheme to recognise inspiring tutors
ByNews reporter
Dundee University lecturers and tutors are about to find out what their students think of them.
The students’ association has decided to set up the Inspire award scheme to find the staff with the top teaching skills, and nominations are now open.
Chris Browne, association acting president, said, “For the first time, students will now be able to show their appreciation to their teaching staff by nominating them for an award.”
Six awards are up for grabs, including most inspirational teaching in the categories of undergraduate teacher, postgraduate teacher and graduate tutor.
Awards will also be presented for best academic adviser, feed-back and assessment of course work and exam performance and innovation in teaching.
Judging will be carried out by a panel of student representatives.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony later in the year.
