Montrose FC player-manager Steven Tweed is completing preparations to run his first half-marathon a month short of his 38th birthday. Tweed is to run the Edinburgh half-marathon a week on May 23 with his wife Victoria in aid of Cash For Kids. “It’s the first time for both of us so we’re just looking to finish the race,” said Tweed. “We’ve been running round the streets at 6am to prepare for the race and the plan is to run it together. “We’re not going to get all competitive. I wouldn’t want to be beaten by the wife!” Tweed meanwhile is set to sign Stenhousemuir keeper Scott Bennett, a PE teacher in Forfar, this weekend. The Gable Endies are also close to agreeing a new contract with Paul Tosh which would see him take on a joint player-coach role at Links Park. Raith Rovers will provide Montrose with opposition for a pre-season friendly on July 10.
