School pupils across Tayside face exam chaos after an SQA crisis note revealed “shortfalls” in markers for crucial tests.
A scramble is now on to recruit specialists to grade teenagers’ higher and advanced higher physics assessments just weeks before the test takes place.
Conservative education spokeswoman Liz Smith said the news would cause “significant worry to parents, pupils and teachers” for the second year in a row.
She said: “This close to the exams, it is rightly their expectation that marking vacancies are all filled and that final preparations have been made in each subject area.
