Grand master Jonathan Rowson showed just why he is regarded as one of the world’s best chess players at the weekend.
He simultaneously played 25 games in Perth on Saturday — winning a staggering 23 of them.
The three-time British champion took on all-comers during the Perth 800 chess festival, held in the concert hall.
During the marathon three-and-a-half hour session, Rowson suffered no defeats but did draw twice, with John Wilman of Castlehill chess club, Dundee, and Daniel Thomas, a 13-year-old from the East Kilbride club.
Michael Roth of Perth chess club was last to finish, having a good position but losing after a 62-move, 210-minute game.
The youngest player, six- year-old Aberdeen boy Vagif Ramazanov, was one of the last to finish.
The event was preceded by a welcome from Perth’s deputy provost, Willie Wilson.
