Mountain rescue teams battled through severe weather in remote Highland Perthshire to help a stranded father and son from the summit of a mountain on Saturday evening.
The pair sparked a seven-and-a-half-hour mission to pluck them from a mountain in the Glen Shee area after one fell a short distance.
They alerted the authorities after the incident at noon when they realised the increasingly poor weather conditions would leave them stranded and exposed.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said, “Grampian police and civilian mountain rescue teams were deployed and located the males, one of whom was suffering from the effects of the cold.
“Weather conditions were severe.
“Both males were brought off the mountain safe and well about 7.30pm and they were checked over by a waiting ambulance crew.”
No details about the pair involved in the rescue have been issued by police.
