Good Samaritan helps out Tay sailor off Broughty Ferry

A “good Samaritan” on a speedboat came to the rescue of a sailor in the Tay off Broughty Ferry.
The woman was aboard a rigid-hull inflatable boat when she experienced problems with the outboard motor and began drifting.
A member of the public alerted Forth Coastguard to the incident shortly before 1.30pm on Thursday and the decision was taken to launch Broughty Ferry inshore lifeboat to go to her rescue.
“By the time they got out there another speed boat got across and towed her in to Tayport,” said a coastguard spokesman.
“She was taken to Tayport harbour having a fuel problem with her outboard motor.
“When we got the call she was on the Broughty Ferry side of the river and was drifting out into mid channel. A good Samaritan came along and hitched her up and towed her in to Tayport.”
