Raith Rovers fans have been hit with another hammer blow after it was revealed that star striker John Baird wants to move away from Stark’s Park.
The club announced substantial cuts to playing staff this week and now it looks like they are set to lose their most prolific forward.
Baird scored 13 goals for Rovers last season, which won him the first division player of the year honour but which also drew him to the attention of other sides.
The former Airdrie striker told his club after last Saturday’s defeat at Partick Thistle that he wants to play at a higher level.
However he is still under contract at Raith and would command a fee.
Club chairman Dave Somerville said, “We are reluctantly open to offers but they will have to reflect the fact that John is a key element of the club.”
