The Scottish summer has made a belated appearance, with most of the country enjoying a second day of glorious sunshine.
Temperatures as high as 22C were reported in Dundee on Wednesday as city residents fished out shorts, skirts and T-shirts from the back of their wardrobes.
As celebrities and professionals perfected their swings on the Old Course ahead of the start of golf’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship today, St Andrews sun-worshippers rushed to the West Sands to make the most of the unusually warm weather.
It was a similar picture in Kirkcaldy as students from Adam Smith College topped up their tans before winter woollies undoubtedly become the norm in coming weeks.
The warm spell, caused by an area of high pressure bringing warm southerly winds to the UK, is expected to last until the weekend.
