Arbroath man Graham Buist in court on murder charge
ByNews reporter
A man has appeared in private at Arbroath Sheriff Court charged with murder.
Graham Buist (30), of Arbroath, made no plea or declaration, made no motion for bail, was remanded in custody for seven days and was committed for further examination.
There was a heavy police presence outside the court as Buist was led to and from the building, with officers at the front and at the rear.
It is understood he was in the holding cells as early as 8.30am and left via the rear exit just after 1pm.
The appearance follows the death of Joanne Rennie (35) on Tuesday at her home in Culloden Road, Arbroath.
Emergency services attended the scene at around 1.45am and, despite the best efforts of the paramedics who worked on her, she later died in the flat.
Buist is expected to appear at Arbroath Sheriff Court again on Thursday.
