The musicians were provided by Stonehaven Folk Festival, Sharon Hassan of Gadie Music and the North East Folk Collective. The rain started to fall five minutes before the ceilidh started but that didn’t stop the enthusiastic dancers. “Never before have there been so many smiling faces on a rainy morning,” said a spokesman from the Friends of the Pool. “With 79 musicians playing, Splasher, the Pool’s cuddly dolphin mascot, was given a tambourine and that made the band up to 80.” A fixture at Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool since 1996, the aqua ceilidh is believed to be a unique open-air event.
