A house in the Whitfield area of Dundee caught fire, killing a dog that was inside.
Dundee Fire and Rescue service received the call to attend at 13:04pm on Thursday afternoon. Nobody was home as the fire took hold, but a dog in the property was killed in the blaze.
A young boy had to be evacuated from a nearby house, but nobody was hurt.
Two fire appliances arrived at the scene, but the fire was so severe that a third was called to assist in the blaze at the single story property.
Two hoses and a jet were used to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters then entered the property to check the roof space for hot material that might reignite. The home was completely destroyed by the blaze.
Neighbours tried to save the dog, but were driven back by the intensity of the flames.
