Two men will attempt to break the world record for the long non-stop squash game this weekend.
Mark James from Montrose and his colleague Peter Buchan have spent six months preparing to break the world’s longest squash rally record.
The singles record stands at 38 hours and was set in England last year after a number of attempts in Australia and New Zealand.
The men will start their rally at 1pm tomorrow and aim to finish up on Monday at Montrose Sport Centre.
Mr Buchan, 46, and Mr James, 49, have competed against and with each other for years.
Mr James said: “Our preparation over the last few months has been concentrating on the skills, mindset, focus and physical demand for the long rallies needed.
“We have been involved at local and Scottish Masters, and international master level over the years.
“We are both hoping we have what it takes to break this record.”
Last year Mr James broke the record for most consecutive non-stop squash matches at 23 hours and 79 matches.
He raised £8,000 although the record has since been broken.
That money built two classrooms for his chosen charity Nyumbani Trust Scotland.
Set up by Rotarians, the organisation aims to raise both funds and awareness for HIV+ orphans in Kenya.
Mark began his challenge at 9pm on Friday, June 19, and played non-stop competitive matches every hour, with only a series of five minute intervals as breaks.
This year, main sponsor Premier Oil Aberdeen has pledged £1 a shot.
He played 78 matches in the course of 22 hours, beating the previous total of 69 matches played over 32 hours.
