Teenager charged with wasting police time after Perth knife raid probe

A 19-year-old man has been charged with wasting police time following allegations of a robbery at Perth’s Farmfoods store on Friday.
Detectives initially appealed for information regarding a theft by a knife-wielding man, with suspicion falling upon a gold-toothed Asian or North African thief.
News of the incident left residents and local shopkeepers shocked and fearing for their own safety and that of their businesses.
It is now understood, however, that inquiries have revealed the theft may not actually have taken place.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and the teenager is expected to appear at court in due course.
