Dunfermline made light work of Annan Athletic and booked their place into the second round of the League Cup with a 5-1 win. An Alex Whittle effort from outside the box put the Pars 1-0 up after 23 minutes. The home side doubled their lead before the break when Gregor Buchanan headed home after Dunfermline were given a free-kick. New signing Michael Moffat continued the goal scoring form he enjoyed at Ayr and put the Pars 3-up before David Hopkirk pulled on back for Annan. But Dunfermline continued to press the part-time side and were rewarded when Moffat set up Ryan Wallace who fired home from inside the box. Lewis Martin completed the scoring two minutes from time.
