Industrial giants will vanish from Levenmouth skyline
ByThe Courier Reporter
Two industrial giants which have become part of the Levenmouth skyline are set to vanish.
Giant “jackets”, which have been constructed at the Bifab yard over the past two years, are to be taken out into the North Sea by barge.
Weighing more than 8,000 tonnes and measuring 541ft in length, the yellow structures are to be transported to the Solan field at the southernmost tip of Shetland, where they will be used as a base for oil platforms.
Five-year-old Cameron Fraser from Ladybank is shown looking out over BiFab’s yard at Methil watching the Solan Jacket making its way on to a barge.
