Montrose goalkeeper Lucas Birnstingl is looking to make the number one jersey at Links Park his own by keeping out high-flying Arbroath.
The former Clyde, Dundee, Queen’s Park and Airdrie shot-stopper looks set to start against the league leaders after Stuart McKenzie’s dismissal against Queen’s Park last weekend and Birnstingl is out to impress.
Birnstingl said: “It is a chance to stake my claim and I want to take it. I want to be the first choice goalkeeper at Montrose and I have to use this game to show that.
“Stuart’s sending-off was just one of those things that can happen to goalkeepers but I enjoyed my run in the team earlier in the season and I want to stay in this time.”
“We have done well in the league but it was disappointing to lose to Arbroath in the Scottish Cup. Hopefully we can get things back on track this weekend when we meet them again.”
