Two goals created by Gary Harkins helped Dundee get the better of high-flying Hamilton Accies at Dens.
The first one on 69 minutes saw a perfect corner from Harkins headed home by David Clarkson to make it four goals in four league games for the frontman.
The second, just four minutes later, saw the playmaker head the ball into the path of Greg Stewart, who sent a low shot beyond the reach of Accies goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
It was Dundee’s first league win at home this season and the result brought the leaders’ unbeaten run to a halt at a still mightily impressive 11 matches.
The visitors remain at the top of the table on goal difference from Inverness Caley Thistle but they were second best to Paul Hartley’s men in the second half in particular.
There was some pretty passing football from them but they lacked a cutting edge all game.
The closest they came to scoring was probably after just three minutes when a long ball bounced up nicely for former Dundee striker Mickael Antoine-Curier.
He cracked a shot goalwards but keeper Scott Bain, now number one choice with Kyle Letheren sidelined through injury, dived to his right to brilliantly push the ball away to safety.
The first half failed to produce too much more in the way of goalmouth action but the match came to life in that four-minute spell thanks to the clinical finishing of Clarkson and Stewart, as well as the craft of Harkins.
Before a decent crowd of 6,035, the home team played out the rest of the game without too much difficulty.
