Motorists will endure four nights of disruption as carriageway improvements begin on the Perth southern bypass.
The northbound stretch between junction 10 Craigend and the Broxden roundabout will be closed on two separate occasions from Friday.
That will force traffic to divert through Perth to rejoin the M90 from the west of the city, which is likely to lead to congestion and delays.
Transport Scotland is spending £370,000 on a 1.5-mile stretch of the M90 carriageway to provide motorists with a “safer, smoother journey”.
The improvement works will be carried out in three phases, with phases one and three requiring a full closure of the northbound carriageway, with a diversion signed via Edinburgh Road and Glasgow Road.
That work will take place between 7.30pm tomorrow and 6am on Saturday and again on Monday between midnight and 6am. Phase two will require a contraflow traffic management layout, which will start on Saturday at 6am and run until midnight on Sunday.
One lane will be in operation for each direction of traffic on the southbound carriageway between Broxden roundabout and junction 10 on the M90.
For the safety of workers and motorists, a reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place for the full duration of the works.
