Work is under way to replace the sea wall barrier along Queen’s Drive in Arbroath as part of continuing efforts to bolster the town’s sea defences.
Removal of a long stretch of the wind and wave-beaten wall has begun in earnest over recent days and work to install its replacement is scheduled to run into the new year.
Running alongside the barrier is Queen’s Drive, which curves behind Inchcape Park, Gayfield Park and Pleasureland.
Road restrictions will be in place during the course of the project. The road is currently closed to all traffic, with heavy plant machinery operating in the area.
It is scheduled to remain closed until the middle of January. A council spokesperson said: “As part of the council’s ongoing work to improve flood defences in Arbroath, 250 metres of precast concrete units are being installed to replace the damaged seafront barriers.
“The £263,000 contract is being undertaken by Delson Contracts and will take around 12 weeks to complete.”
