Police in Fife are hunting a man with an ‘Oasis’ haircut after a taxi driver was robbed of a three-figure sum.
The driver was threatened with a weapon after two men got into the back of his cab in Dunfermline on Saturday.
The incident happened at around 11pm in Bute Crescent in the Abbeyview area of town.
One of the men flashed a weapon at the driver and demanded cash. When he handed over the money, the men made off.
The first is said to have been around 6ft tall, of medium build, aged in his early 30s and with light brown / dirty blone hair described as “straggly and similar to an ‘Oasis’ haircut.
He was wearing a light-coloured tracksuit top.
Detectives say that shortly before getting into the taxt, he had been cycling a black mountain bike.
The second man is described as around 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build with short, dark, straight hair.
He is said to have been of unkempt appearance and, possibly with something distinctive about his face such as a piercing or mole in his lip area.
He was wearing a navy-coloured jumper.
DC Conrad Musgrave, who is leading the enquiry, said: “The taxi driver was understandably shaken by this incident. I would urge anyone who has any information relating to this crime to contact the police.
“I would like to reassure the residents of Dunfermline that this sort of crime in this area is rare and that the police are doing everything possible to catch those responsible, including high visibility patrols in the Abbeyview area.”
