A fire in a Dundee home that killed a resident on Saturday night has been ruled an accident.
Following an investigation by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, after the fatal blaze in Foggyley Gardens, a report was submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Authorities have not yet named the casualty though he has been identified locally as 80-year-old George Auchterlonie.
Group Manager for Dundee Martin Tait said: “The joint investigation has now concluded and the fire appears to be accidental.
“This was a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the man’s family.
“We will be visiting the area today as part of our Post Domestic Incident Response (PDIR) and offering fire safety advice and free Home Fire Safety Visits to other members of the public in the vicinity of the affected property.”
Two appliances from MacAlpine Road and one from Blackness Road attended the incident and crews were faced with a heavily smoke logged property. They used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and teams in breathing apparatus gained access to the property and located a fire in the kitchen area. Whilst extinguishing the fire a casualty was also located within the house and died at the scene.
