Police are reminding people in Dundee about the importance of home security after recent sneak-in thefts in Broughty Ferry and an attempted house-breaking in Monifieth.
Power tools, cash, an iPad, personal items and a music system were stolen by thieves at addresses in Dalhousie Road, Grove Road and Whinny Brae.
There was also an attempted house-breaking in Maule Street, Monifieth.
Tayside Division hrecently launched Operation After Dark, an initiative that provides residents with advice and guidance on home security measures and keeps attention focused on deterring housebreaking.
Local officers will be out speaking to people in the communities, providing a reassuring presence and supplying helpful security information and advice.
Chief Inspector Dave McIntosh said: “I would just reiterate the After Dark messages to householders, anyone leaving their home unoccupied should always lock all doors and windows, set alarms and timer switches if their home has one.
“When at home, always lock doors and windows before retiring to bed for the night so as to reduce the opportunity for thieves.
“Consider fitting external security lighting and if you have them, make sure they are working.
“Remember a house that looks unoccupied is tempting to criminals.”
