Tayside Division’s mountain rescue team began searching for a lone male, believed to be a Royal Marine, on Thursday afternoon. Family members alerted police after the 20-year-old man failed to return. He had left home around 2pm. The man was wearing a running vest and shorts and was last seen heading towards Loch Brandy. Fears increased for the man after nightfall, with conditions in the hills particularly challenging. A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “There were concerns for the man after he went up Glen Clova, with the intention of running round Loch Brandy. “He was seen around 2.45pm and we have the mountain rescue team up at Clova looking for him. “We were contacted by relatives. He may have gone to ground but it was indicated he was expected back by nightfall.” The search for the missing man resumed at 4.30 on Friday morning. Three police search and rescue teams, three civilian search and rescue teams and an RAF team are all out looking for the man. Police Scotland said they are battling “atrocious conditions”.
