Santa Claus makes pre-Christmas touchdown in Kirkcaldy
ByClaire Warrender
Santa Claus brought a touch of Christmas magic as he arrived in Kirkcaldy.
Hundreds of excited children and their families lined the High Street to see Santa make his way to his grotto in the Mercat Shopping Centre.
In a sleigh pulled by six reindeer from the Cairngorms, Father Christmas delighted onlookers with a wave of his hand and a “ho ho ho”.
He was accompanied by Kirkcaldy and District Pipe Band as well as famous book and pantomime characters.
The annual reindeer parade, which starts at Thistle Street, marks the start of Kirkcaldy’s Christmas season.
The tradition began in 1998 and Santa will be in his grotto every day until Christmas Eve.
Mercat manager Stephen Roberts said: “It is such a fantastic day for families to enjoy and there is a wonderful atmosphere in the town.
“There are going to be lots of fun activities taking place at the Mercat this Christmas, including letter writing to Santa, magical star hunts, carols and Christmas songs.”
