A young Tayport father involved in a horrific crash in Perthshire last Thursday morning has died.
Owen Bissett, who lived on Elizabeth Street with his fiancee, passed away in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, after suffering fatal injuries in the head-on collision between his car and a lorry.
His distraught family said they were too upset to speak.
Following the crash, Mr Bissett was rushed by police-escorted ambulance to Ninewells where he was given emergency treatment.
He was said to be in a coma in intensive care, where surgeons fought to save his life.
However, their efforts failed and he was pronounced dead early on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the tragic incident, hundreds of messages of support were left on fiancee Kelly Grossett’s Facebook page.
The accident on the A85 at Gilmerton happened at 9.10am on Thursday.
A police spokesman said: “One male casualty with serious life-threatening injuries was taken to Ninewells Hospital under police escort.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed they used hydraulic equipment to free Mr Bissett from the vehicle.
The road was closed for five hours while emergency services attended to the scene.
It is believed the lorry driver was uninjured.
