Angus Council hoping to reopen Arbroath swimming pool soon

Arbroath swimming pool is ready to be retested for cryptosporidium.
The pool was shut on November 18 after traces of the parasitic organism were found in a water sample.
This followed a previous closure at the end of October when a handful of people presented with symptoms of cryptosporidium.
An Angus Council spokesman said: “We are pleased to inform you that the preparations for the pool to be retested for cryptosporidium are now complete.
“This includes the pool being inspected and given the all clear by an independent expert.
“A test has now been requested and providing the results come back clear we will be in a position to open the pool. A further update confirming timescales will be issued as soon as possible.”
Cryptosporidium can cause diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and a fever.
The local authority has previously issued a plea for people suffering from diarrhoea to stay away from their pools for at least 14 days after the illness has cleared.
