Tributes have been paid to an Angus lifeboat volunteer who died at the weekend.
Philip Leport, who was 59 and from Montrose, died on Saturday and his colleagues have paid tribute to the father of two, who had long and distinguished career as a volunteer with the RNLI.
A spokesman for Montrose Lifeboat said: “On Saturday the crew were awoken to the devastating news of the very sudden death of our crew member Philip Leport.
“Phil had been a stalwart of his station for many years and his presence and witty stories will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside him.
“Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and fellow RNLI crew mates at this sad time safe passage, Phil.”
A former Montrose Academy pupil and Angus College graduate, Mr Leport worked as a software solutions specialist for Capital Document Solutions in Aberdeen and had been with city firms British Olivetti and Tyseal/HOE/Danka UK previously.
A number of tributes have been paid online by members of the RNLI fraternity, including Broughty Ferry and Arbroath lifeboats, Seahouses Coastguards and Dunbar and Hoylake lifeboat stations.
Montrose Lifeboat’s Facebook page features tributes from other crews and from people who volunteered alongside Mr Leport.
Mr Leport is survived by his wife Carol, sons Scott and Ross and his extended family.
Arrangements for Mr Leport’s funeral will be released in due course.
