Perth’s Christmas pantomime went ahead on Friday night following the disappointment of the opening night being cancelled.
Many parents and children had turned up on Thursday evening to Perth Concert Hall but were told the production of Sleeping Beauty would not go on due to “technical problems”.
Several parents had hit out at the 11th hour cancellation on Thursday.
Despite Horsecross Arts, who run both Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre, endeavouring to contact those who had bought tickets, scores of parents and children turned up in freezing conditions at the venue, only to leave disappointed.
It is understood around 500 tickets had been sold.
Wendy Niblock, director of marketing and communications for Horsecross Arts, had claimed it had been difficult moving the pantomime from Perth Theatre to Perth Concert Hall, but stressed the decision to cancel the event had been right.
A spokesman for Horsecross Arts confirmed the pantomime would “definitely” go ahead.
She said: “The show goes on. We had contacted almost everyone prior to Thursday’s cancellation but those who turned up were entitled to a refund or alternative performance.”
And a Horsecross staff member posted a message on Twitter on Friday saying: “We’ve waved our magic wand and #SleepingBeautyPerth goes on tonight at 7pm in Perth Concert Hall as planned.”
