Perth hairdresser Sara-Jane helps charity with style

Sara-Jane McBride has been sharing her hairdressing skills in India.
Perth woman Sara-Jane McBride is back from the trip of a lifetime, teaching hairdressing in Kolkata, India.
The scheme, launched in 2010 by Schwarzkopf Professional along with SOS Children’s Villages, supports disadvantaged young people living in developing countries by enabling them to learn hairdressing skills to secure a job and earn a living.
For two weeks Sara-Jane was immersed in providing the students with the ability to thrive in a hairdressing apprenticeship in India.
The 2014 UK team was made up of two technicians and seven volunteers from the company’s salons.
Sara-Jane works for John Gillespie Hairdressing in Perth.
She said: “The SOS Children’s Village Kolkata is an incredible place, filled with love and security for all the young people who live there.
“It’s a safe haven for underprivileged children to grow into adults.”
