Brechin Town House Museum pays tribute to fallen war heroes

A tribute to Brechin’s fallen war heroes is on display at the Town House Museum.
Each of the 302 men named in the City of Brechin Roll of Honour has a cross bearing his name and the tribute will remain in the front window at the museum until January 6.
The display coincides with an exhibition on the First World War, which will also end in January.
The exhibition, which was produced by Angus Council’s Galleries Unit, has being touring the county’s museums to mark the centenary of the war.
Among the items now on display in Brechin is unique porcelain ware and medals, weapons and personal effects from the trenches.
A diorama featuring a soldier from The Black Watch, and reproductions of drawings by the renowned war artist Muirhead Bone also form part of the exhibition.
Also featured is the painting Backs to the Wall by military artist Robert Gibb.
Entry is to Brechin Town House Museum is free and it is open to the public from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
