Wizard of Oz provides the icing on the cake for Dundee charity
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Dundee baker has designed a magical cake to help a unique acting group raise funds to stage a production of The Wizard of Oz next year.
Gowrie Care, which provides care and support for people with learning disabilities, is hoping to raise £4,000 so its Glee Club Drama Club can put on the show. The Wizard of Oz-inspired sweet treat, which features chocolate ruby slippers atop a yellow brick road iced sponge, has been baked and donated f by Ruth Hanlon, creator of bespoke cakes at Ruth Makes Cakes. Ruth said: “When I heard about this exciting group and their fundraising campaign I was eager to help them out. From what I gather there are not many outlets for creative people and performers with disabilities in Dundee so it is important to support this group and help them to fund their show. “I hope this special cake does well at auction and the group hit their fundraising target.” Anyone who donates to the appeal until 1pm on Thursday December 18 will be automatically entered into the prize draw for the cake.
