ByGraham Brown
A Monifieth pensioner has lost a four-figure sum after falling victim to bogus workmen.
The crooks visited the OAP’s house in the town on Friday at around noon.
He handed over the cash to two men to carry out work on his roof but it was never done and the pair made off in a white van.
Police have now launched an investigation and are looking to trace the men, who are in their thirties or forties.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland is conducting an inquiry after bogus workmen called at the home of a 77-year-old man in Monifieth, offering to repair his roof on Friday December 12 at noon.
“The victim handed over a four-figure sum of money to the two men for work that was never carried out.
“One is described as aged between 33 and 45, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a dark fleece top and dark tammy.
“The other is described as aged about 45, wearing jeans, a dark jacket and tammy.”
Anyone with any information can call police on 101.
